Ruth Maxine Moody, an 87-year-old Blackfoot resident died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Pocatello after a fall.
Â She was born April 4, 1925, in Bell City, Missouri, the daughter of Chester G. Abernathy and Dolly Jane Stewart Abernathy.
She was raised in Stoddard County and Bell City until age 17 when she moved to St. Louis, Mo.Â She later moved to Charleston, Mo. and has made Blackfoot her home since 1982.
She was married to Albert Studt in April of 1946 in Missouri. Ruth and Albert had two daughters, Carol and Charlotte. They were married for 19 years. She later married William Otis â€śOdieâ€ťÂ Moody on June 18, 1966.
She was one of Jehovahâ€™s Witnesses and was baptized at age 19.
She loved to babysit and loved children in general.Â Children always brought a smile to her face and she loved to watch them play. She enjoyed taking care of her home, flowers, and growing tomatoes in her garden. She would hand-water her tomato plants daily every summer.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Jean) StudtÂ Harris, Blackfoot; Charlotte Wilma (Studt) (Terry) Tolan, Mackinaw, Ill.; Rebecca Maxine (Moody) (Karl) Fangsrud of Blackfoot; Patricia (Moody) Terry, Granite City, Ill. and two other stepchildren. She has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Â Also surviving is a brother Lois Abernathy of Pocatello and a sister Jemima (Pedersen) (Glen) Berggren of Blackfoot.Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
She was preceded in death by her husband William Otis â€śOdieâ€ť Moody; a brother Paul Abernathy; and five sisters: Ester, Sarah, Naomi, Hazel, and Mira.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.Â Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.Â
