Sadie Beth Gardner Sydenham, 81, of Lehi, Utah, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the Greenwood Manor in Lehi, surrounded by her loving family. Sadie was born Feb. 13, 1929, to Samuel LaBoyd and Mary Irene Carter Gardner in Thomas. She was raised in Blackfoot, attending schools in the Blackfoot School District and was a graduate of Blackfoot High School.
Sadie lived in many different places, including the San Francisco Bay area; Boise; Carson City, Nev.; Sparks, Nev.; Monroe, Utah; and the last three years in Lehi, Utah.
On Jan. 4, 1949 Sadie married Ross Cameron Sydenham in Blackfoot. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 27, 1959. Together they had seven children â€” Curt, Steve, Karen, Janean, Susan, Alisa and Connie.
Sadie worked for the Reno Chamber of Commerce, working with legislative affairs. She had many interests in her life, including sewing, reading, collecting swans and antique irons, travel and antique hunting. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. To her they were everything good in her life. She was an excellent mother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Sadie was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including various positions in Primary, including president, teacher and music, stake Young Women secretary and earned her Young Woman of Excellence award, and was chairman of the Singing Mothers. She enjoyed many years of doing the music for Sunday School, Relief Society and ward organist. Sadie was very active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was pleased and inspired by her pioneer ancestry. She also served in the Literary Club and at the Senior Center in Monroe, Utah.
Sadie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Cameron; her seven children, Karen (Bruce) Leatham of Mesa, Ariz.; Curt (Vicki) Sydenham of Salt Lake City, Utah; Steve (Debbie) Sydenham of Sparks, Nev.; Janean (Lynn) Peterson of Spanish Fork, Utah; Susan (Ken) Lovell of Heber, Utah; Alisa Sydenham of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and Connie (Dale) Holman of Reno, Nev.; half-brothers, Boyd (Patricia) Gardner of Blackfoot; Jerry Gardner of Smithfield, N.C.; and Rick (Carol) of Capistrano, Calif.; Gary (Shirley) Seamons of Blackfoot and Dwight (Jeanette) Seamons of Bozeman, Mont.; she was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 29 great- grandchildren. She is loved and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Sadie was preceded in death by her parents; half-brother, Larry; and one infant half-sister.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery.
