Sarah F. Kohnke, 90, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday,
Sept. 6, 2012 at The Willows in Blackfoot.
Sarah was born June 22, 1922 in La Junta, Colo., to Henry Hergenrader and Anna Barbara Olhberg.Â She was raised in Fort Bent, Colo., and lived in California, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho and Kansas over the years.Â Sarah graduated from La Junta, Colo., High School and then attended business college.
On March 26, 1943 Sarah married Fred J. Kohnke in Tijuana, Mexico.Â Together they had two children, Sherwin and Elise.Â Following Fredâ€™s death Sarah lived in Arizona and Idaho.
Â Sarah worked as a receptionist for Dr. Walter Hoge for several years.Â In her free time she enjoyed word puzzles, playing Bingo and loved to dance.
She was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church.
Sarah is survived by her son, Sherwin Gene (Vicki) Kohnke of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Elise (Duane) Cumpton of Blackfoot; four grandsons, Gary (Susan) Cumpton of Ft. Worth, Texas, Cody (Angii) Cumpton of Vancouver, Wash., Drew Cumpton of Riverton, Utah, and Eric Kohnke of Tampa, Fla.; five great-granddaughters, Sheryle, Camille, Catherine, Jessica and Evelyn; and great-grandson, Jonthan.
-She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1110 Parkway Drive in Blackfoot.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the church.Â Interment will follow at 1p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at the Fairview Cemetery in La Juanta, Colo.Â
