Shirley Young, 72, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at her home.
She was born March 24, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho the daughter of Charles Smith and Eliza Orgill Smith.
Shirley attended school in Fort Hall, Pingree and graduated from Pocatello High School.
She married Lavern Robert Frank and they were later divorced.Â On Dec. 30, 1975, she married Earl Young in Twin Falls, Idaho.Â He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2013.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Shirley worked many years at Basic American Foods.Â She also worked at Key Port, Wash. at a naval facility as a computer operator for the government.
She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and watching old movies.
Shirley is survived by her children, Sharon (Randy) Montgomery of Blackfoot; Mary (Jerry) Arnold of Bremerton, Wash.; Bobby (Corey) Young of Bremerton Wash.; John Young, Ruth (Gene) Myers of Ohio; Timothy (Becky) Frank of Altos, Okla.; Jody (Teresa) Frank of Pocatello and James (Lisa) Young of Nampa;Â brothers, Joseph R. Smith of Blackfoot; Sammy Smith and Charles Smith, both of Roseburg, Ore.;Â sister, Ruth Darrell of Roseburg, Ore.;Â 32 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Smith; sister, Betty, and three grandchildren, Shirla, Vincent and Angel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home and, according to her wishes, cremation will take place.
