Snake River wins District Five football championship
It was, as Brad Coombs described it, "the best Senior Night ever.
Coombs rushed for 87 yards and 4 touchdowns to help Snake River defeated Bear Lake 43-19 on Friday night. With the victory the Panthers (3-0, 6-3) claimed the District Five Class 3A championship. They will open the state playoffs with a home game against Teton at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1.
"That's definitely exciting," Coombs said of his big night. "Our offensive line really came to play this week. And credit our underclassmen for their role in this win."
Snake River led just 22-19 after three quarters but pulled away with 3 touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Coombs had a 2-yard sprint to cap a 34-yard drive which began at the end of the third after Dakota Gilbert fell on a fumble by the Bears' Jaden Crane.
