THOMAS —Paige Williams out-spelled Alex VanOrden on the word "anti-pollution" and spelled "prejudice" for the win at Snake River Middle School's Spelling Bee on Thursday.
The students had the spelling words for about three weeks. Contests were held in each classroom until teachers had narrowed the field down to six students per classroom. The students then competed in a school-wide spell-off of 30 students.
Alysson Porter, who was unavailable for the photo, took third in the sixth grade bracket.
In the fifth grade bracket Caleb McBride spelled the word "traitor" for the win. Following close behind were Jordyn Jensen in second and Bailey Sensenbach in third.
