During his three-year stint in the Army Stephen was stationed in Korea; Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; and Fort Carson, Colo.; and received his honorable discharge in December of 1966.
Upon discharge, Stephen resumed his peace officer duties when he was hired by the Blackfoot Police Department in 1967. Stephen was proud to serve the citizens of Blackfoot for 29 illustrious years, working in many capacities throughout his distinguished service before retiring in 1996 as a captain.
While working at the police department Stephen served under six different chiefs while developing countless lifelong friendships with the people that he served with, developing relationships which he always cherished throughout his life.
On March 27, 1968 he married Christine Sutton of Firth. They were married for 44 years and had two children, Tammy (High) and James Woolf. Stephen was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather as he spent countless weekends outdoors with his family. He especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to hunt and fish.
