BLACKFOOT — The eighth annual Bingham County Stone Soup will be Tuesday from 5:30-8 p.m. at Mountain View Middle School. Stone Soup is a fundraiser to benefit the Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency in Bingham County.
There will be 12 different soups from various local businesses and individuals to taste and vote for. There will also be a raffle, silent auction, entertainment and a free children's carnival.
All funds raised at Stone Soup are used locally for various SEICAA programs and supports SEICAA's GED program.
SEICAA has received various donations from local businesses and individuals that will be auctioned or raffled. Among the silent auction items is a painting donated by local artist Ken Spencer valued at $2,500.
The painting is of Farley Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains. The painting is oil on canvas and measures 18 by 24 inches. Spencer completed the painting in 2002 and it was included in a traveling art show called "Paint America" for approximately one year.
In donating the painting, Spencer said he hopes to give a little to help a lot.
"It's a beautiful painting," he said. "I hope (SEICAA) can raise some money for the community."
Raffle items include quilts, gift baskets and various other items donated by businesses and individuals. Donations are still being accepted for the event.
Tickets purchased in advance at the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce (inside the Idaho Potato Museum) or at the Blackfoot SEICAA office, 206 S. Spruce St., are $6 per person or $25 per family. Tickets purchased at the door will be $8 or $30 for a family.
SEICAA offices will be closed Monday in observation of Columbus Day, but tickets will be available at the Chamber of Commerce Monday from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
