UPDATE 11:20 a.m.: FORT HALL — Highway 91 between Ballard and Reservation roads is expected to remain closed most of the day. A Pocatello Fire Department tower truck with bucket and Idaho Technical Rescue Team have been brought in to assess the situation from above due to the structure's instability.

FORT HALL — Highway 91 is expected to remain closed this morning between Ballard and Reservation roads after a structure fire Thursday morning.
The fire started shortly before 4 a.m. and the home may have been occupied, but investigators will not be able to get into the structure for several hours due to extreme instability, according to Eric King, incident command officer and Chubbuck Fire Chief.
The fire consumed the old, two-story house on Highway 91 near Reservation Road. The fire occurred on the Fort Hall Reservation, but the home is non-Indian owned. Chubbuck is the lead fire agency and Fort Hall Fire Department is providing assistance.
Investigators from Bannock County, Fort Hall Police and the Chubbuck Fire Department are all on standby to go into the structure once the green light is given that it is safe, said King.
The fire's cause is not known at this time. Neighbors say the home was occupied by an elderly man who lived alone.
