FIRTH – An unidentified white substance was delivered to the Firth Post Office on Saturday.
The unidentified substance was delivered in a container, called a flat tub, that is used to deliver general purpose mail to post offices. This flat tub came from Pocatello.
As postal employee Tanya Crofts was preparing and sorting mail, she noticed some powder on her hands and in the container, said Firth Postmaster Mel Hill. There was maybe a teaspoon full of powder.
The three postal employees—Crofts, Pauline Price and Kent Burch--were instructed to isolate the mail that was touched by the powder and then go to the front of the building and wait for the haz-mat team.
