Ted Kinney, 86
Ted Waine Kinney, 86, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away peacefully, Monday, May 20, 2013 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, Idaho.
He was born November 2, 1926 in Blackfoot, Idaho the son of Norma Seamons and Waine Vernon Kinney.
Ted enjoyed growing up on a farm just east of Blackfoot.
He attended and graduated from Blackfoot High School where he was Student Body president his senior year. He joined the US Navy during the same year and served at the end of World War II. He graduated from Idaho State College (now ISU) in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree in Business.
On June 22, 1950, he married Mari Sharlene Millward of Pocatello, Idaho in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club as well as many other charitable organizations while residing in Riverton, WY. He enjoyed a successful career in banking, managing for First Security (1950-1956), auditing and examining for the Federal Home Loan Bank (1956-1961), and was co-founder, president, and general manager of First Guaranty Savings and Loan in Riverton, WY, (1961-1979). He was appointed to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board out of Portland, OR, where he served for 4 years. He also served on the Wyoming State Governors Financial Committee. He served as president of the Wyoming Savings and Loan League. He opened clothing stores in Riverton, WY and Blackfoot, ID. He and his wife, Sharlene, were active managers of the Glendon Way Home Owners Association in Murray, UT from 1984-2002 when they retired. They moved to Blackfoot, ID in 2004.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous leadership and service positions in both his church and community.
He enjoyed his family, his work, horseback riding, singing, fishing, golfing, dancing and camping. He will be profoundly missed by many who knew and loved him. The family expresses deep gratitude and love for those friends, family and care givers who served him in the community and at Bingham Memorial Hospital over the past few weeks and throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Sharlene Millward Kinney of Blackfoot, ID., his children, Blake (Luana) Kinney of Blackfoot, Michele (John) Mann of West Jordan, UT, Kort (Judy) Kinney of Riverton, WY, Kole (Lisa) Kinney of West Jordan, UT; eighteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; brother, Hugh (Gloria) Kinney of Tremonton, UT and numerous other extended family members who mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Tyler Apodaca and Jeremy Kinney, both of Riverton, WY.
Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Blackfoot 11th Ward LDS Church, 520 N. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.
The family will meet with friends on Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
