Valerie Lee Mestas, 42, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her motherâ€™s residence.
Valerie was born Nov. 1, 1969 in Tooele, Utah. to Eloy T. Alaris and JoAnn Mestas Damon. She received her education in the Boise area. In the past few years she bounced back and forth from Blackfoot to the Phoenix, Ariz. area.
In her early years she married Rick Miera: they later separated. She later met her significant other, Perry Lee Howard, and they have been together since.
Valerie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed spending time with her siblings, family and friends. She was a very outspoken, energetic, bubbly person. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and writing letters and poem to her children and Perry.
Valerie is survived by her children, Tomas Cota of Blackfoot, Michael Miera of Boise, Idaho, Rick Miera of Pocatello; her mother JoAnn Mestas of Blackfoot; brother Brandon Damon of Idaho Falls; sisters, Cynthia (Fred Nielson) Damon of Blackfoot, Laura Damon of Pocatello, Shannon Damon of Blackfoot; one grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Valerie was preceded in death by her father, Eloy Alarirs, stepfather Leroy â€śSonnyâ€ť Damon, grandmother Ila Yvonne Kennedy-Gomez, grandfather John Gomez and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Blackfoot 4th Ward LDS Chapel. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to service at the church.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery Cemetery.
