ABERDEEN - A quintet of Lady Tiger spikers suited up for the final time in front of the home crowd and despite a spirited rally from two sets down, fell to the visiting Lady Dragons of Malad in five sets, 25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25 and 15-11.
"We proved once again that we can play with anyone in our district," said Coach Melanie Beck. "We just need to put it all together at one time and we could beat some of these teams that have edged us of late."
Aberdeen dug themselves a quick hole, dropping the first two games of the five setter, before a spirited rally in front of a boisterous crowd, edging clear in the final moments for a 25-23 third game victory.
"Coach is really an inspiration to us and has taught us so much this year," said senior setter Kilee Lehman. "We have all learned so much from her this year."
Utilizing the momentum gained in the third game, the Lady Tigers scored in spurts in the fourth game, then withstood a furious Lady Dragon rally to tie the match up at two games apiece with a thrilling 25-23 win.
"I am so proud of these girls and the effort that they put forth game after game," said Coach Beck. "We enter the district tournament on a high note and we are prepared t upset a team or two if given the chance."
Despite playing the final game close, the Lady Dragons proved too much down the stretch and pulled out the win with a final game score of 15-11.
