By Emily Hone FORT HALL — The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes governing body, the Fort Hall Business Council, reorganized Friday after seating two new members and two members who were reelected. Fort Hall Agency Superintendent Rick LaPointe administered the oath of office to newcomers Tino Batt and Elizabeth Ann Lindroth and Nathan Small and LeJuan Tyler who were elected to another term in the Tribes’ general election on May 26. Council Chairman Alonzo Coby welcomed the new members and thanked outgoing councilmen Adam Hill and Anthony “Pete” Broncho for their service. He lauded Broncho as one of the hardest working council members with whom he has served, who was always in his office before 8 a.m., never left until after 5 p.m., and always had the best interests of the Tribes in his heart. Coby said Hill was also a hard worker and as treasurer had the difficult job of looking after the Tribes’ assets, a job he did well. “He made us follow policy in everything we did. I thank them both for their time and dedication.” LaPointe echoed Coby’s words, saying Broncho and Hill and served their tribe well in a tough job. He said Indian tribes are burdened with regulations and laws, and must deal with several different governments. Council members must know those regulations and what the relationship to the other governments is in order to do their jobs, he said. “These two councilmen made tough decisions on your behalf,” LaPointe told the crowd of people who attended the swearing in ceremony. “It’s a very difficult job and you’re never away from it,” he added, “even nights and weekends.” He, also, thanked them for their service, saying “I’m sure they will come back.” Lindroth and Batt both said they will keep communication lines open with the membership. Lindroth said she would like to see more of an effort to help keep the Tribes’ recreation programs and for the Wellness Center that’s been talked about to become a reality. “I’m looking forward to working with everybody and being open and honest,” she said. Batt said his door will always be open to the membership and he will provide them with phone numbers where he can be reached. In a reorganization of the council Coby was reelected to the position of chairman and Small was reelected vice chairman. Lindroth was elected secretary, Batt is the new treasurer, and Tyler is sergeant at arms. Tino and Councilman Glenn Fisher were appointed representatives to the Fort Hall District; Blaine Edmo is the Ross Fork District representative; Small represents Bannock Creek; Lindroth Lincoln creek and Tyler and Coby the Gibson District. Tony Galloway Sr. took the oath to serve another term on the Land Use Policy Commission.
