(The Morning News  Leslie Mielke) Tympanist Shaina Rawson, a junior at Blackfoot High School, will play with the Dallas Brass tonight at Blackfoot Performing Arts Center (BPAC). The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight at BPAC, 870 S. Fisher Ave.
Dallas Brass has invited the high school and middle school bands to perform with them tonight. The Dallas Brass’ primary mission includes connecting with young musicians. The group will execute that mission today in hands-on clinics with the students.
During the concert, Mountain View Middle School students will be featured in a “Star Wars” tribute and Blackfoot High School band students will play an Americana medley with the group.
Since 1983, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The show, “American Musical Journey,” incorporates a full complement of brass and percussion for a musical travelogue through American history, from the time of George Washington to the present day. The program’s music will range from Dixieland, swing, and Broadway to patriotic, pop and even hip-hop. There is really something for everybody.
Jan Eddington, BHS band director, said, “Dallas Brass are phenomenal.”
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.Tickets are available at Tweedy’s Music or by calling the BPAC at 317-5508. All seats are reserved and ticket prices are $20 for adults and $15 for students/children up to age 18. Group rates are available for groups over 10.
