BLACKFOOT — The Bingham County Public Works Department spent $5.16 million this year on reconstruction, equipment, administration and other costs, according to the annual road and street financial report. The department received $5.26 million from local and state funding sources.
The department had a beginning balance of $1.89 million from the previous fiscal year. The Public Works Department has earmarked $628,587 for specific future projects. Included are bridge replacements on Funk and Homestead Road in Aberdeen, Thomas Road and Wapello Firth Road. They also plan to make safety improvements to Ferry Butte Road, Rossi Road in Pingree, Goshen Road near Basalt and Butte Round Road in Aberdeen.
The county receives $1.86 million in property tax levies for roads, streets and bridges. It  receives $3 million from the state in highway user revenue. The county received no federal funding in the previous fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30.
The county spent $2.1 million on routine maintenance, which includes chip sealing or seal coating, patching, snow removal, grading and salary and benefit costs.
Total costs for road reconstruction, replacement or rehabilitation totaled $1.18 million.
The county commissioners reviewed the road and street financial report Tuesday. They signed the report, and it will be submitted to the Idaho State Controller.
