Fish & Game ask anglers’ cooperation

POCATELLO – The Idaho Fish and Game department is anticipating plenty of activity at popular fishing spots for the holiday weekend;  and the agency is asking fishermen to be aware of fish tagged for population studies.

Coby elected to fourth term on council

    BLACKFOOT — Fort Hall Business Council Chairman Alonzo Coby was elected to his fourth term in office during the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes general election Friday, but incumbents Richard John Kutch Sr. and Marlene Skunkcap went down to defeat.
 

    Former council member Glenn D. Fisher, who was voted out of office in 2007 after serving one two-year term, pulled the most votes of the six candidates, getting 21.53 percent of the votes with his 494.
    Coby came in second with 436 votes, followed by Blaine J. Edmo with 395. Fisher, Coby and Edmo will be seated on the council.
    Kutch got 367 votes, challenger Aldene J. Pevo got 372 and Skunkcap trailed with 230 votes.
    No information on the number of voters was available, but poll watchers said it was the largest turnout in recent history.
    Edmund Wayne George and Tony A. Shay were elected to the Tribes’ Land Use Policy Commission, with George getting 396 votes and Shay 318.
     At 295, Gary F. Watson got the highest number of votes among the challengers, followed by Michael L. Dann with 208, Delilah B. George with 155, and Gilbert Teton with 99.
    Sharon House, an Oneida Tribe member from Wisconsin lost her bid to become the Tribes’ special counsel for gaming by a vote of 454 to 339.
