BLACKFOOT — Leaders of five area businesses will discuss local economic issues at a Bingham County Economic Forum hosted by the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce on July 9.

The purpose of the forum  is to discuss and evaluate the economic climate in the community, identify strengths and weaknesses and to generate ideas that will improve commerce, employment opportunity and way of life.
Stan Cook, owner of Blacker’s; Premier Technology Inc. CEO Doug Sayer; Alice Cannon, co-owner of Trestlewood; Nonpareil Potatoes Owner Chris Abend; and Bingham Memorial Hospital Chief Financial Officer Jeff Daniels will provide short presentations concerning their ideas and suggestions.

Lunch of assorted salads and rolls with pies for dessert will be served for $10.
The following questions may be asked at the forum to provoke discussion:

    • What are the economic implications of being centrally located between Pocatello and Idaho Falls?
    • How healthy are out transportation, communication, and technology infrastructures?
    • How healthy is our employment pool?
    • How healthy are our schools and educational resources?
    • Do we have adequate housing?
    • What are some ways that the Blackfoot Chamber and other organizations could help the business climate?
    • Are there certain types of businesses that we should try to attract?
