IDAHO FALLS (AP) — Divers have recovered the body of a 22-year-old Driggs man who drowned in Upper Palisades Lake.
Colby Beard drowned Sunday afternoon after falling off his horse into the hypothermia-inducing water. Beard was apparently attempting to ride into the lake near the outlet when the horse reared up and Beard fell. When Beard was unable to swim to shore, three of his friends went into the water after him. They were unable to stay in the water long enough to save him, however. The dive team with the Bonneville County sheriff’s office recovered Beard’s body Monday.
