Violet Fern Sullivan, 84, of Blackfoot passed away Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at Bonaventure in Idaho Falls.
Violet was born Sept. 4, 1927 in Fort Hall to Henry Hansen and Erma Brown. She lived in Fort Hall, Blackfoot, Nampa and Yuma, Ariz. She graduated from Pocatello High School and continued her education at the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Violet married Darrel F. Sullivan in Kansas City, Mo. right after Darrel returned from serving in Italy during WWII. He preceded her in death in 1976. She married Glenn Henry Wheeler in 1992 in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She worked as a medical secretary and receptionist in Pocatello and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, fishing, snowmobiling and playing cards. She loved to travel.
Violet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Holloway of Sacramento, Calif. and Sharon (John) Hoge of Blackfoot; brother, Wayne Hansen of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters, Cheyrral Pittman, Eva Rogerson and Rosalee Billman; seven grandchildren, Heather, Becky, Michael, Michelle, Matthew, Mark and Melanie; and 14 great- grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Erma; husbands, Darrel Sullivan and Glenn Wheeler; brothers, Keith Hansen, Clint Hansen, Shelby Hansen and Dallas Hansen; and sisters, Irene Wood and Betty Kelly.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot with Bishop Armstrong conducting. Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
