Wendell England Stander, 86

Wendell England Stander, 86, of Blackfoot passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at his home.
Wendell was born Dec. 31, 1925 in Thomas to George Henry Stander and Alta Delila England. 
On Nov. 14, 1946 Wendell married Mary Olsen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  Together they had six children, Delwyn, Marian, Lowell, Celia, Lyle Dewey, and Elaine.
Wendell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in numerous callings including, home teacher, scoutmaster, bishop, temple worker and patriarch.  He served a mission with Mary in 1991 and 1992 in the Quezon Philippeans Mission.
He was a dairyman, serving on The Upper Snake River Dairymans Board of Directors, Western General Dairy Co-op Board of Directors, Intermountain Dairyman Board of Directors, the Idaho State Dairyman’s Commission, the Watson Slough Board and also the Board of Director for Skyline (Pebble Creek) Ski Hill. 
In his free time, he enjoyed rock polishing and preparing stones for small jewelry, recycling, building his own house and some furniture, repairing farm machinery, hunting, and fishing.
He loved his children and they loved him.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Mary of Blackfoot; children, Delwyn Wendell (Cathy) Stander of Blackfoot, Marian (Dennis) Cummings of Blackfoot, Lowell Ray (Ellen) Stander of Athens, Georgia; Celia (Ron) Simmons of Blackfoot, Lyle Dewey (Merri) Stander of Blackfoot, and Elaine (Bill) Stevenson of Blackfoot; sister, Arva Williams of St. George, Utah; 35 grandchildren; and 62 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and wife Della Stander and Kenneth Stander; one sister, Ruby Bailey and husband John Bailey; brother-in-law, Dean Williams;  son-in-law, Kim Baron; three great-grandchildren, Tyson Webster, ‘Aulani Baron and Trever Stevenson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at the Thomas 4th Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Tracy Hawker conducting. 
Family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. 
Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
