William (Bill) F Hill, 77

July 24, 2014

William (Bill) F Hill passed away peacefully, after a long illness, surrounded by family, on July 5, 2014, at his home in Montpelier, Idaho.
Bill was born July 23, 1936 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Frank L. and Lena Mae Hill.
Bill joined the Army in 1953 and served in Korea until 1956, when he returned home and was honorably discharged.
Bill began working at State Hospital South in Blackfoot, Idaho, where he met the love of his life, Lawana (Lee) Thompson. They were married in 1957. To this union werebrought two stepsons, Lynn and Thomas. Later, William (Little Bill) and Celia Rae joined them and their family was complete.
Bill worked at Blackfoot Creamery and was a butcher for the local grocer in Soda Springs, Idaho. Bill moved his family to Montpelier, Idaho, where he worked for Clover Club and the Idaho Transportation Department until his retirement in August 1998.
Bill loved the outdoors. Any opportunity he had, you would find Bill and Lee in the outdoors camping, fishing and hunting. He loved to take his float tube and paddle all over the little reservoirs found scattered around Southeast Idaho. He loved loading up his truck with his beloved dogs and his sweetheart by his side and go for evening drives looking for "critters". Bill made years of memories with his family camping and fishing. No matter the age of his grandchildren, whether 3 or 23, when it was time to leave, he would hug them and pat them on the back and say, " Now be a good boy or girl."; whatever the case may be. Then he would send them on their way.
Bill is survived by his sweetheart Lawana Hill, (brothers and sisters), stepson Thomas Mansfield, son William Hill (Ann), daughter-in-law Cherie Mansfield, son-in-law Ken Klingenberg, and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, stepson Lynn Mansfield, and daughter Celia Rae Klingenberg.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Hill home, (833 Jackson, Montpelier, Idaho), on August 23, 2014, from 4-7 PM. Please no flowers; donations would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice for the care and compassion for Bill and our family at this difficult time.
