Lila Mae Kay was born March 4, 1924. She joined her Heavenly Father and her husband LaMarr in heaven on Nov. 15, 2010. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Lila was born in Silvis, Ill., to Henry and Laura Kay. She had one older brother, Nathaniel, and sister Evelyn, and two younger sisters, Virginia and Pauline. She grew up in Montrose, Colo., and graduated from high school there in 1943. While in high school she ran for the school track team and won many ribbons.
She remembers a hard life of raising animals and a garden so they could eat. After graduation she rode a bus to Ogden, Utah, to live with her friend Ellen. It was her first time away from home. She got a job at the Ogden Arsenal as a file clerk, helping to send supplies to the troops overseas. One day in 1944 she was in the cafeteria at the Ogden Arsenal and was introduced to a young man who became her husband, D. LaMarr Hansen. They were married on Jan. 14, 1945.
Lila is survived by her two sons, Gary and Garth Hansen; five grandchildren, Robert Hansen, Drew Hansen, Holly (Dusty) Whited, Heather (Chris) Fehringer, Hailey (Rob) Giesbrecht and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia and Pauline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaMarr; her parents; brother, Nathaniel and sister, Evelyn.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends and relatives from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
