BLACKFOOT – Residents of Rose Park Senior Community in Blackfoot are bringing years of resourcefulness and lifetimes of treasures together for their first Christmas Festival today from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
The community is invited to stop by the clubhouse at 1385 Meggan Lane off Merkley Lane. Residents will be selling "grandma quality" food, sweets and treats, coffee and hot chocolate. Expect to find handmade crafts, decorations, afghans and jewelry which residents have been working on. They are also offering some of their personal treasures from the past.
Betty Jo Haws is relatively new to the Rose Park community. She moved into her new one bedroom apartment from a much larger home and is happy to be selling many of her own decorations.
"I don't have as much room as I used to," said Haws. "Many of us living here now find ourselves living on fixed incomes, most of us have medical bills, or need prescriptions. I love that here in our little community we can work hard together and try to offer things people will love and enjoy."
Residents will keep the proceeds of the festival to assist with their own Christmas expenses. There will also be a donation bucket at the front door.
