Donald “Don” Wayne Henman, 74, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg following a lingering illness.
He was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Mason City, Neb., the son of Elzie W. Henman and Anna Vera Mortensen.
Don graduated from Clark County High School in Dubois in 1955.
On Sept. 2, 1956, he married Doris Putnam and to this union three children — Deborah, Dan, and Dale — were born. They later divorced.
Don married Sherrie Baxter on April 13, 1985, in Blackfoot at the First Baptist Church.
He worked for the City of Blackfoot in the water department for 12 years and then worked for the Parks and Recreation department as a supervisor for 20 years. He retired in 1994 after working for the city for a total of 32 years.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family and participating in many of his favorite activities with them. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, camping and always had a big garden which he enjoyed working in and sharing with others. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of Blackfoot; children, Deborah (Larry) Russell of Basalt, Dan (Natalie) Henman of Las Vegas, Nev.;, Dale (Judy) Henman of Cleveland, Tenn.; brothers, Robert (Emma) of Idaho Falls, John (Bonnie) of Boise, Richard “Butch” (LaDonna) of Labelle and Lester (LaPreal) of Dubois; sisters, JoAnn Abbott of Dubois, Deloris Thompson of Idaho Falls, Alice Olsen of Price, Utah; Joyce (Everett) Mortensen of Dubois, Linda (John) Toler of Dubois, Mary Lou Wellard of Idaho Falls; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth and grandson Shawn Henman.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
