Elizabeth was born on July 23, 1906, the daughter of Charles Alvin and Jane Garvin (Ellison) Burton in Soda Springs. She was one of six children. Her father was a sheep man and at a young age she and her family traveled during summers to various areas of the country where the sheep were pastured.
She attended school in Soda Springs and later graduated from Blackfoot High School. She attended Montana State Normal College in Dillon, where she met her future husband, Marion R. Davis. They were married Dec. 5, 1926, in Idaho Falls. Her husband’s high school teaching career lead them from Idaho to Montana, Oregon, and finally Arizona, where they retired.
During World War II, while her husband served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, Elizabeth worked in the Army Corps of Engineers office. After the war, they returned to Salem, Ore., where Marion resumed teaching and Elizabeth worked for Portland General Electric Company.
After retirement they lived in Arizona for a time before moving to Eagle, where Marion preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1972.
Elizabeth moved to Ontario, Ore., to be near her daughter and her family. In 1979 she settled in Milton-Freewater.
In her later years Elizabeth enjoyed traveling with friends and family throughout the U.S., Canada and Hawaii. She loved her family and enjoyed holidays with her family around her. She would travel to visit her great-grandchildren when they were born to welcome them into the family. Mrs. Davis continued driving her own car up until she was 98 years of age.
She had been a member of several Seventh-day Adventist Churches, most recently the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Davis volunteered at her church, helping with office details, newsletter mailings, assembling the weekly bulletin as well as other tasks.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Richard Jenkins of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; four grandchildren, Rick Jenkins of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; Dr. Steven Jenkins of Crestline, Calif.; Robert Jenkins of Granite Bay, Calif.; and Ann Jenkins of Corpus Christi, Texas; and four great-grandsons, Kenneth of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; Sean of College Place, Wash.; Scot of Granite Bay, Calif.; and Dylan of Minot AFB, N.D.; one sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
