Don Leon Arnold, 80, of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his home after a courageous battle with renal failure.
He was born June 12, 1930 in Pocatello, the son of Lloyd Lester and Hattie Howell Arnold.
Don graduated from Pocatello High School and joined the Navy. He served during the Korean Conflict in Guam. He was honorably discharged and served in the National Guard in Pocatello for four years.
On April 20, 1951, he married Doreen Hansen in Pocatello.
Don was a member of the Elks Lodge. He worked as a machinist at MTR, ATR, TRA (all at the INEEL) and retired in 1994.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and took up golf after his retirement where he enjoyed playing in Idaho and Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen, of Blackfoot; son, William (Sherrie) Arnold of Houston, Texas; daughter, Susan (Chris) Harumi of Pocatello and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darrell Arnold and sister, Letha Fenwick.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
A visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello following the service where military rites will be presented by American Legion, Stewart Hoover Post #23.
