Donavon ”Donny” Teton, 35 of Fort Hall, Idaho, passed on July 6, 2011 at Portneuf Medical Hospital in Pocatello surrounded by his family and friends due to a lingering illness.
Donavon was born on April 28, 1976, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Doyle and Wilma P. Teton. He attended elementary school at Tyhee, Broken Arrow, and East Heights Elementary at Lawrence, Kansas, and Hawthorne Junior High, Highland High School, ShoBan High School and Owyhee High School, Owyhee, Nevada.
During his junior and senior high school years he excelled in sports, playing basketball, football and softball in his later years. He especially loved the game of basketball where he thrilled spectators, both young and old as they enjoyed watching him play his game. Michael Jordan was his hero and he mimicked his every action and moves. A highlight of Donny’s was to meet Michael Jordan in person at Salt Lake City, Utah.
Donavon was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Fort Hall Agency, Fort Hall, Idaho, as a Maintenance Custodian. In addition, he worked for FMC - KASE Contractor, Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, Facilities Division, and Indian Health Service, Custodian; Bureau of Indian Affairs, Irrigation Department and as a Sho-Ban Firefighter.
He is survived by his parents, daughter, Courtney Brandi Teton of Fort Hall and special friend and companion, Nicki Osborne; his special grandma Hester Teton of Lincoln Creek; sisters Rhonda Broncho, Leslie Sequints, Jr., and Colette Teton and Quincy Waterhouse; a brother, Randall Teton and ElTerese Kima; nephews Payton and Layne Sequints, Blade and Kellan Waterhouse, Caine Teton; nieces Makyla and Savannah Sequints, and Tia Paige Waterhouse.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Grandpapa Richard Teton; and maternal grandparents, Homer and Daisy (Snipe) Preacher.
Traditional visitation will begin on Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at the Rhonda Broncho and Leslie “Motor” Sequints residence on South Bannock Road. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling in Blackfoot. Traditional burial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the Lincoln Creek Cemetery.
