Marley Lynn Fackrell, 86, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Aug, 30, 2011 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
Marley was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Pingree to Robert Lynn and Coral Leone Marley Fackrell.
He spent his early years in Pingree and Riverside and moved to Arimo when his father bought a store. Arimo is where he met his sweetheart, Ezma B. Welch, when they were seventh graders.
After graduating from Arimo High School in 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was a tailgunner on a B-17. He always said that they ended the war when they heard he was coming.
After being honorably discharged, he served a mission in the Western States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon his return, he attended Idaho State University graduating in 1952 with a business degree. He reconnected with his sweetheart Ezma and they were sealed for time and all eternity on the very lucky day of Friday the 13th of February, 1953, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Marley served in faithfully in many callings in the church. He was a bishop as well as councilor to several bishops. He served as a Scoutmaster for many years. He and Ezma served two missions together. The first was in the Taclaban Philippines Mission and the second in the Leeds England Mission. They also served many years as workers in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple.
He is survived by his daughter, Kris Fackrell of Blackfoot; two sons, Jeff (Danette) Fackrell of Pocatello and Tom (Cindy) Fackrell of Meridian; two brothers, Robert LaMar of Pocatello and Almon of Redland, Calif. He is also survived by five granddaughters; three grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters-in-law, Betty Welch and Blanche Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ezma; his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Belva Welch, Clarence Welch, Henry and Jesse Welch, Irma and Wayne Rowberry, Roxy Leith and Miricum Fackrell and Lorias Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the Blackfoot 3rd and 5th Ward LDS Chapel, 845 Grant Street in Blackfoot, with Bishop Russ Cottam officiating. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.
