Herman “Quin” Quintero Jr., 60 of Blackfoot, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born July 29, 1951 in Upland, Calif., to Herman Quintero Sr., and Carmel Garcia.
He attended Chaffey High School in 1969 and later graduated. He lived in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and Victorville, Calif.; and then Blackfoot. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps.
On April 14, 1990, Quin married Lisa Lynn Anders in Upland, Calif.
Quin was a proud retiree for the California Department of Corrections as a Correctional Sergeant. This year he was working for Nonpareil as a security guard.
Fishing, boating, bowling, camping and doing yardwork were a few of his favorite hobbies. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and taking scenic drives. Listening to music with his kids was a shared passion.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Lynn Quintero of Blackfoot; daughters Monet M. Quintero (13), Alyssa M. Quintero (17) of Blackfoot and Monique (Cory) Moose (26) of Midland, Texas; mother, Carmel Quintero of Stockton, Calif.; sister Judi (Steve) dePerriano of Thornton, Calif.; and one grandson, Niccolo Moose.
He was preceded in death by his father Herman Quintero Sr.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
Military honors will be presented by the Stewart Hoover Post #23 at the funeral home.
