BLACKFOOT — Bingham County Stop Soup is just around the corner, and the Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency is seeking donations to make the event a success.
Stone Soup will be Oct. 11 at Mountain View Middle School at 5:30 p.m.
Donations of items for the silent auction and raffle are being sought, and Bingham County Program Coordinator Bobette Jackson said it’s a great way for local businesses to give back in a way that also supports their local community.
“The money that’s raised at Stone Soup stays in the community,” Jackson said. She said the funds are used for various SEICAA programs, and if items need purchased they will go to a local store to get the items.
In addition to donations, Jackson said they are also in need of a few people to help with decorating prior to the event.
Several people have indicated their interest in making a soup, but Jackson said they are already full for this year’s event. Those interested can call SEICAA to be put on the list for next year.
Those wanting to donate, volunteer or be added to next year’s list for soups can call SEICAA at 785-1583.
Stone Soup is an annual fundraiser for SEICAA that pits several amateur and professional cooks against each other in search of the top spot.
The public votes for their favorite soup, which was Rupe’s Burgers’ cream of asparagus soup last year.
