BLACKFOOT — Whether you are looking for a reason to get fit in the new year or if you are an avid runner looking to set a new personal record, today is the final day to register with early bird pricing for the Tommy Vaughn's Marathon and More set for May 19. Regular pricing will be in effect until April 15.
The event will feature several race lengths including a full and half marathon, 10K, 5K and a one-mile run for kids. Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Dinner Table.
A preliminary course map was released earlier this week. All races will begin and end at Airport Park and each course uses all or a major portion of the shorter courses.
Runners in the 5K will run on the greenbelt to near the 8th tee of the Blackfoot Golf Course and those in the 10K will continue to the intersection of Rose Road and Porterville Road before returning. Half-marathoners will continue along Porterville Road and into the Groveland area and marathoners will continue out 200 West to Rising River Road before returning. Copies of the map are available at blackfootmarathon.blogspot.com.
To register for the race, go to active.com and search for "Tommy Vaughn's Marathon." Those registering before the end of the year can enter the marathon for $50. The half marathon is $40, 10K is $25, 5K is $20 and the Sprout Run is $10.
Starting Jan. 1, registration increases to $60 for the marathon.
Participants will receive finisher medals, t-shirts and goodie bags and will be eligible to win prizes.
Sponsors and volunteers for the race are needed. Those interested should contact Race Director Jon Lyksett at 785-8915.
