An auction is planned today to help pay medical expenses for Daniel and Rachel Carter of Blackfoot.
Daniel suffers from primary progressive multiple sclerosis (MS).
"MS hit me about four or five years ago," he said. "Now I can't walk without a walker and am pretty well bound to this wheelchair."
Carter qualifies for Social Security disability and Medicare, however, his wife's physical needs must be paid "out of pocket."
Rachel was born with cerebral palsy and scoliosis. Her doctor has recommended surgery to help her with the scoliosis.
"We just take everything day by day," Rachel said. "God is good."
"We seek to live Godly in Christ Jesus," Daniel said. "In the Bible, Jesus said, 'In this world you will have trouble but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.'
"We ask God to help us and do everything we can with love," he said.
The benefit auction starts at 2 p.m. today at the Christ Cowboy Church, 129 E. 200 N., Weeding Lane in Blackfoot.
A silent auction is from 2—4 p.m. A live auction is from 4—6 p.m. A "bring a dish" potluck is from 6—7 p.m. At 7 p.m., a worship service begins to "thank the Lord for all He does for us."
The Blackfoot Southern Baptist Church and Christ Cowboy Church are sponsoring this event.
