Robert “Keith” Pendlebury, 83, of lifetime resident of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home in Blackfoot.
Keith was born on December 2, 1928 in Blackfoot, Idaho to John Henry and Cecile Nell Harper Pendlebury. He attended Blackfoot schools and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1947.
Keith was married to Laburta Minna Schmidt in November of 1949 in Shelley, Idaho. Together they had two sons, Jay and Robert. Laburta passed away on March 8, 1966. On November 29, 1968, Keith married Myrtle Irene Barry Smith on November 1968 in Blackfoot. They were married 26 years when Myrtle passed away in July of 1994. Keith married once more to Donna Hall on December 25, 1995. Donna also preceded him in death in December 2006.
Keith worked for Sunspiced Potatoes and Basic America Foods. He was a storage supervisor and was quoted by the New York Times for his knowledge of potato storage. He retired in 1992 after 33 years in the industry.
Keith was a member of the LDS church. He enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Elks Lodge for a time. He enjoyed fishing, rock hounding, painting, and making jewelry and belt buckles.
Keith is survived by his two sons, Jay H of Denver, Colorado and Robert K of Blackfoot; two step sons, Ken (Raina) Barry of California and Jim Barry of Texas; a step daughter, Colleen (Clinton) Rogers of Pocatello; a brother, Lynn (Conchi) Of Salem, Oregon; a sister, Hazel Palmer of Blackfoot and many step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Laburta, Myrtle, and Donna; his parents, five brothers, Duane, Neland, Chub, Ray, Earl; and a sister, Elnora.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Grove City Cemetery. Cremation and funeral services have been under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling in Blackfoot.
