Aneta Jensen Lawrence, 89, of Blackfoot passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her family.
She was born June 13, 1922 in McDonaldville, the daughter of James Mathias Jensen and Ann Emily Findlay.
Aneta lived her lifetime in this area including McDonaldville, Riverside, Sterling and Blackfoot where she received her education.
She married Kenneth C. Mecham in 1938 and they later were divorced. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married James Gerrard Lawrence in Jackson, Wy. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 29, 1991. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2001.
Aneta was a Foster Grandparent for eight years. She also was involved with the Historical Society and the Senior Citizen Center.
She worked for American Potato for many years.
She enjoyed Bingo, camping, cards, crossword puzzles, quilting, crocheting and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ann Mecham of Blackfoot, Bonnie Mae Evans of Blackfoot, Emily Deone (Max) Anderson of Moreland, Peggy Amelia Sjostrom of Blackfoot, Vestal Roween “Tena” (Conce) Mejia of Pingree, Christine Marie (Kenny) Buck of Moreland and her poodle companion, Susie, of many years; 22 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, four brothers, Laurel, LaVon, Shirley, Varley and two sisters, Marie Scruggs and Margaret Ellen Jensen.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Groveland Cemetery.
