Alta Evans Capson, 79, of Blackfoot, Mother, Grandma and friend, returned home quietly on July 30, 2012, after a short stay at Bingham Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Alta was born May 3, 1933 in Downey, the daughter of James Phillip Evans and Freda Layton Evans.
Alta loved growing up on a farm in Downey and spent many wonderful days making memories with siblings Ema Lu, Jim and Jean, along with many cousins and friends. Alta graduated from Marsh Valley High School before moving to Blackfoot where she would meet and marry the love of her life, George Keith Capson.
Alta was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She shared her talents serving in the Blackfoot 4th Ward for over 50 years; she served as a Sunday School teacher, Primary worker and faithful Visiting Teacher. She especially enjoyed working with young children, and in her later years she served 17 years as a Foster Grandparent at Irving Kindergarten Center, where she loved and was loved by the children of the community.
Alta loved animals, but had a special love for horses, inherited from her father and shared with her brother, Jim. Alta and Keith made their home in Blackfoot where they raised their family. Kevin (Carolyn) Capson of Clinton, Utah; Lanae Capson of Blackfoot; LaRain (Keith) Glenn of Blackfoot; Tate (Vickie) Capson of Blackfoot; Lana Metz of Chubbuck and Kip (Marcie) Capson of Blackfoot; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Alta had many wonderful friends who she loved and admired, but one must be mentioned with gratitude and love, a special sister and friend, Donna King.
Alta is survived by her family and one brother Jim (Saundra) Evans of Blackfoot.
Alta was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; parents and sisters Ema Lu (Rex) Hickman of McCammon and Jean (Jack) Fisher of Moreland.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at the Bingham Memorial Hospital and Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehab for the love and care that was quickly shared with Alta the last few months.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the Blackfoot 4th Ward, 520 North Shilling, Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church.
