Iris Schelske, 63, of Aberdeen returned to her Heavenly Father as she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday Sept. 2, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is the first child of Douglas and Maurine Driscoll, born on Feb 6, 1949. She was raised in the Sterling/Aberdeen area with her three sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1967 and then went on to attend Utah State and Idaho State University. On Jan. 25, 1969 she married her loving husband, Richard Schelske. Together they had two daughters, Chana and Amber. She was an amazing wife and mother who created a loving home for her family.
In 1985 Iris continued her education at Idaho State University, graduating on the dean’s list in 1988 with her bachelor of arts degree in Elementary Education. She started her teaching career in the fall of 1988 for the Aberdeen sixth grade. She blessed the lives of many students for 23 years. She had a great love for reading and playing the piano, her beautiful flowers, cooking, spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Iris is survived by her husband. Richard Schelske, of Aberdeen; Her daughters, Chana (Jeff Duffin) and grandchildren Jake, Bo and Sophia of Aberdeen; Amber (Rick Giesbrecht) and grandchildren ,Gabrielle and Hannah of Meridian; mother, Maurine Driscoll of Aberdeen; sisters Andrea Myler, Nancy George, Shelley Driscoll and brothers Jeff and Mart Driscoll.
She was preceded in death by her father Douglas Driscoll of American Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at the Aberdeen Middle School. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012. at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road.
Interment will follow services on Thursday in the Aberdeen Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Aberdeen Middle School Library, c/o Connie Cornforth, P.O. Box 610 Aberdeen, Idaho 83210.
