Firth, ID Gene “Fat Boy” Taylor, 43 year Idaho Falls resident and former Blackfoot resident, died on Friday evening, September 14, 2012, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident after colliding with a deer on Highway 91 on the out-skirts of Firth.
He was born September 17, 1969, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the son of Arnold and Hazel Marie Johnson Taylor. His early years were lived in Blackfoot where he attended schools and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1988. He furthered his education at P.I.T., an Arizon mechanic school. He also was educated through the Sage Trucking School.
For the past six years he has been in a companionship with Cheril Montgomery. Besides Blackfoot, Gene has lived in Phoenix AZ, Maine and currently in Idaho Falls.
Gene had worked for General Mills and as a trucker drove for various employers including Bob Caldwell, Non Pariel, Gitner Trucking and was last employed by G.P.O.D. in Shelley.
He was full of life and loved riding his motorcycle, 4 X 4 ing, snow machining, eating and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Survivors include his children, Stacia Evans, Idaho Falls, Kira VanSickle, Boise and Brandon Austin of Ammon, his companion Cheril Montgomery of Idaho Falls, his parents Arnold and Hazel Taylor of Blackfoot. Also surviving are his siblings Raymond Peare, Blackfoot, Linda (Vern) Marsh, of Maine, Jamie (Greg) Irwin, Josephine (Sam) Thyberg, Laura (Loran) Hillman and Steven Taylor, all of Blackfoot, as well as a great number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his fiancé, Melinda Evans and a sister-in-law Rebecca Taylor and grandmother, Leora Johnson
He will be greatly missed
Funeral services will be conducted in Blackfoot at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. With Bishop Wes Potter of the Blackfoot 14th Ward conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday for an hour prior to services.
