FORT HALL—Blackfoot School District trustee Peter Lipovac will serve as the interim superintendent for Shoshone-Bannock Jr./Sr. High School until a new superintendent is selected, according to Randy'L Teton, public affairs manager for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. The position has been vacated by Francine Hall; however, no information is being released at this time as to why Hall is no longer the superintendent.
Lipovac, a former principal of Shoshone-Bannock High School, has been active in the development of a Fort Hall Charter School and was honored by the tribe this summer for his support of Native American cultural and language education. Lipovac recently survived a recall election in Zone 1 of District 55 after he was accused of not getting pre-approval for a conference in New Mexico.
Teton said Lipovac is not under contract and is not interested in applying for the permanent position of superintendent.
Anyone still interested in applying for the position needs to have their application in to the Tribal Business Center in Fort Hall by 4 p.m. today.
