Theodore “Ted” Eugene Serr, 85, of Blackfoot passed away, surrounded by his family on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at Bingham Memorial Hospital from complications due to a stroke.
He was born Dec. 4, 1927 in Blackfoot to Jacob Serr and Elsie Alma Henrietta Loebsack.
Ted graduated from Moreland High School as valedictorian.
On June 10, 1948, he married Gwendolyn Wood.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was serving as a home teacher.
He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Twilight Twirlers, Choo Choo Squares. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, motorcycle riding, 4-wheeling and gardening and most of all spending time enjoying these things with his children and grandchildren.
Ted worked as a mechanic at the INEL for over 30 years. He also was a bus supervisor for the Snake River School District for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn; children, Tim (Susan) Serr of Blackfoot; Russell (Elaine) Serr of Blackfoot; Casey (Lori) Serr of Mapleton, Utah; Lori Ann (Dain) Lochridge of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada; Susie (Lupe) Moreno of Blackfoot; brother, Ken Serr of Idaho Falls; sister, Donna (Guy) Swartz of Gresham, Ore.; and brother-in-law, Kay Findlay of Blackfoot; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pete and Jim; and a sister, Irene Findlay.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Blackfoot LDS Stake Center, 1440 Highland Dr. with Bishop Tad Pearson conducting.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. and for one hour prior to the service at the stake center.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
