Edith M. Jaeger, 86, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Gables in Blackfoot.
She was born May 26, 1926 in Blackfoot to Nels and Mathilda Johnson, the seventh and last child to join their family.
She graduated from Blackfoot High School and worked on the family farm. She met Ernest Jaeger at a dance in Firth and they were married Sept. 2, 1949. It was then that she began her great work in life being a wife and mother. They have four children, Steven, Karen, Larry and Mary.
She worked for the State Hospital South as a cook until she retired in May of 1988.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and making beautiful baby quilts. Produce from her garden or one of her quilts have been enjoyed by many family and friends.
The family would like to thank all those who gave compassionate care while she was at the Gables.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Jaeger, Blackfoot, Larry (Shauna) Jaeger, Moreland; two daughters, Karen (Lyle) Scow, Pocatello, and Mary(William) Nelson, Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
