BLACKFOOT — Madison Leslie hit two more bombs, including a walk off dinger in the bottom of the sixth inning of the second game as Blackfoot remained perfect in conference play with a double header sweep of Century on Tuesday evening.
"Madison is really starting to swing a big bat for us," Blackfoot head coach Matt Chavez said. "You could see it in the cage earlier in the season and I knew that it was only a matter of time before she started terrorizing pitchers. She is just so strong and our line up has no holes in it. There isn't a spot in the batting order where you can pitch around a hitter."
Blackfoot pounded out 27 hits in the two games on Tuesday 12 of which came in a 5-3 opening game victory.
Mattison Chavez was big at the plate for the Lady Broncos, reaching base all four times at bat with a double and two runs scored.
Leslie added two more RBI singles in the game as well in support of a pair of pitchers in the circle.
Jessica Capson got the start in game one and after a perfect first inning effort, a lingering illness caught up with her in the second inning as Century scored 3 runs with just one hit.
"Jess looked really good in the first inning and was throwing hard but after the second inning you could hear it in her voice that she isn't well yet so we sent in Morningrose," coach Chavez said.
Tobey responded with a near flawless five innings for the Lady Broncos as she silenced the Lady Diamondback bats, holding them to just two hits over that time frame while striking out 8 in the victory.
In game two it was all Lady Broncos as they pounded out 15 hits, 8 of which were of the extra base variety. Chavez, Tobey, Cassandra Clarke, Taylor Beers and Ashlyn Beers each roped doubles in the game to go along with the pair of singers off of the bat of Madison Leslie.
"I'm telling you it is darn fun to watch these girls," coach Chavez said. "We are just so strong up and down the line up and defensively we are strong to. Ashlyn [Beers] gunned down two runners tonight, one at home and another at third. It's just fun as heck to watch."
Tobey was once again the beneficiary of the fantastic run support as she went the full six innings for the win, scattering 3 hits while striking out 4 more Century hitters.
Blackfoot (14-1, 6-0) will be back in action on Saturday when they host Preston for a pair of conference games with first game starting at 11 a.m. The second game will follow about 20 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
