Larry Tissidimit, 65, a lifetime Fort Hall resident, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Larry was born Aug. 25, 1947 in Pocatello to Charles S. and Rose Snipe Coby Tissidimit. As a child he loved riding horses and swimming in the canals. He attended school in Blackfoot and graduated from Fort Sill Indian School in Lawton, Okla. He attended post-grad in Chillacco, Okla. where he earned a degree in engineering.
He was a member of The Native American Church.
In 1970 he married Marianne Watson in Fort Hall.
Larry worked as a carpenter for the Sho-Ban Tribe where he built and remodeled homes for over 30 years until he retired for health reasons. He also worked as a process server for the courts.
He was an avid horseman. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and making home improvements. He had a green thumb and enjoyed working in the yard, making things grow. He loved to watch his sons and grandchildren in the Indian Races. One of his favorite things was going on the cattle drive and assisting with cooking. He enjoyed listening to oldies music, watching the Celtics play on television and playing Bingo.
Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 and in the Army Reserve until 1974 where he was discharged with honors.
He was raised by his mother, Rose along with Velma Arriwite and Elmarie Snipe.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marianne; his children: Marlo Tissidimit, Lance (Carlie) Tissidimit, Lyman (Veldina) Tissidimit, Mardel (Jason) Butler, Lamar Tissidimit, Ronell Seaman and Julia (Kevin) Bagley and 10 grandchildren: Keinan, Brailey, Syliss, Lathan, Juliann Tissidimit, Tiger Cesspooch, Ariana, Arion, Reuben, Treya Butler, Serena Silk, Shane Seaman, Jade and Kleve Broncho.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother Jesse Boise Snipe; maternal grandfather John E. Snipe; one brother, Clive Tissidimit; his parents, Charles and Rose Tissidimit; and paternal grandparents, Charles S. Tissidimit Sr. and Mary Use. He was also preceded in death by with those he was raised with, Barbara Snipe-Seaman, Bertha Tissidimit, Lennis Snipe, Edward Snipe and Rita Wettenbone.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
Larry will be taken to the family residence on East Ferry Butte Road, Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. There will be a sunrise service on Friday, July 19, 2013 and traditional burial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Gibson Cemetery.
