Calvin “Ray” Hawker, 84, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at his home following a courageous battle of a lingering illness.
Ray was born March 12, 1929 in Menan to Charles and Rosalie Hawker. He attended schools in the Rupert and Burley areas and then in California. He valued hard work and the reward that comes with it.
In September of 1948 Ray married Nadine Fairchild in Elko, Nev. and they had three children together. Nadine passed away in November 1994 .
In December of 1998 Ray married Idona Lea Fackrell in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and have spent the last 14 and a half years together in Blackfoot.
Ray was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were he served in the priesthood. He was a wonderful home teacher.
Ray had been an airplane mechanic at Hill Air Force Base and had a wonderful time working on all of the various aircraft there. He worked in California for Premix Concrete Company and then worked at Kloepfer Concrete in Paul, Idaho for 27 years. He also ran heavy equipment and drove truck.
He enjoyed cars, airplanes, motorcycles, guns, antiques, and all kinds of collectibles.
He is survived by his wife, Idona of Blackfoot; children: Randy Hawker of Twin Falls, Mark Hawker of Heyburn, Corrine Miller of Caldwell; stepchildren: Troy Hulse of Shelley, Rodona Anderson of Pocatello, Kevin Hulse of Chubbuck, and Bryan Hulse of Pocatello; brothers: Fred Hawker of Burley, Aaron Hawker of Pleasantville, Utah, and Sherman Hawker of Galt, Calif.; a sister: Eunice Young of Sandy, Utah; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles Palmer Hawker and Rosalie Ross Hawker, and two brothers; Charles, his twin, who passed away in infancy and Carroll Hawker.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Ave. Blackfoot with Bishop Gary Soucie conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service from 12-12:45 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
