BLACKFOOT — Farmers brought potato products to the Irving Kindergarten Center in Blackfoot Tuesday.
"We're doing this because it's important to this community," said Irving Kindergarten principal J Thayne. "Students get to see where potatoes really come from.
"In the past, we would get students out into the fields but because of budget cuts, there are no field trips," Thayne said.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) organized "Spud Day."
Students learned how potatoes are raised.
"Potatoes need soil dirt, rain and sun," said kindergartner Karson Lindsay.
Students "taste-tested" potatoes. Students sampled hash browns, potato chips and French fries.
