Stefanie Ann Whiting Bitton passed away at home early in the hours of Jan. 19, 2014.
Stefanie was born May 30, 1962 in Boise to Robert and Louise Whiting. She was one of the “middle maid” children right in between her older sister Laurie and her younger sisters Tanya and Shiara.
Being raised in Idaho, being a tomboy came naturally and she was a daddy’s girl through and through. As soon as she could walk, she fished and camped with her numerous cousins and followed her dad around his construction sites.
Stefanie attended Cole Elementary, Fairmont Junior High and graduated in 1980 from Capital High School. She met and married Micheal Bitton and together they raised 3 daughters: Monae, Danielle and Makayla.
Being a mother was very important to her. In addition to traditional values, she instilled a love of music, books, dance, art and good food in each one of them. All three have grown to be independent, strong women; something of which she was incredibly proud.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her family, her faith and family history was very important to her. She endeavored to continue the work started by her parents on their ever-growing family tree. She worked not only finding new names, but also researching stories for many of those names.
Stefanie had a huge heart and was very accepting of every single member of her family, distant and immediate. She was an important part of the glue that kept her extended family together and often helped organize family reunions, which is quite the feat with the size of her extended family.
Stefanie was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father Robert Whiting and most recently her niece Chante Forgett who passed away on Dec. 15, 2013.
She is survived by her mother, Louise Whiting; sisters: Laurie and Shiara Whiting and Tanya Forgette, husband Micheal Bitton, daughters: Monae (Matt) Curtis and Danielle and Makayla Bitton and grandson Rylan Bowsky as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
