IVINS, Utah - Margaret W. Lapray, 83, passed away on Jan. 22, 2014, peacefully at her home in Ivins, Utah.
She was born Oct. 6, 1930 in Thomas, Idaho.
She was the seventh of 12 children born to Cornelious and Gertrude Williams. She attended Idaho State University and graduated from Utah State University. She was a school teacher.
She met Lyle E. Lapray at Utah State and they were married Dec. 27, 1955 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had five children that they raised in Portland, Oregon and Margaret was able to be a stay-at-home mom. In 1995, she moved with Lyle to Ivins, Utah where Lyle worked with Tuachan. Lyle passed away in 1999.
Margaret moved to Logandale, Nev. in 2004. Not too long after that, she met Kay Anderson; they were married and they moved back to Ivins. Kay passed away in 2006, and Margaret stayed in Ivins.
Margaret has always been active in the LDS Church and has served as Primary president, Young Women’s president and several times as Relief Society president; as well as numerous other callings. She has served missions in Argentina, China, Canary Islands, the Portland Employment Center, the Portland Temple, the St. George Temple and the St. George Family History Center.
Margaret loved to travel! She had visited 43 countries and nearly every state. She enjoyed dancing with Lyle, swimming every week and walking with her buddies around her neighborhood. Her greatest joys in life were her family and serving others.
Margaret is survived by her siblings: Ruth Polatis, Richard (Sharon) Williams, Leah (Ezra) Robertson, Stanley (Nancy) Williams and Neal Williams; her children: Bessejo (Stuart) Kearsley of Aloha, Ore.; Christina (Bryan) Sheldon of Logandale, Nev.; Sam (Amie) Lapray of Salem, Ore.; David (Heidi) Lapray of Beaverton, Ore.; and Jon (Janice) Lapray of Salem Ore.; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in St. George, Utah last Saturday.
A funeral service will be held in Blackfoot, on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Thomas LDS Chapel at 1059 West 100 South. A visitation will be on Saturday, prior to services, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery in Blackfoot.
