Juanita Virginia Howard, 88, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 25, 1925 in Roanoke, Virginia to Elijah S. and Sadie Florence Potter Hostetter. She was raised and received her education in Roanoke.
She met LeRoy Elson Howard while they were both serving missions in California. After completion of their missions they were married on July 25, 1948, in Roanoke, Virginia. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Aug.4, 1948.
Juanita has always been an active of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served faithfully in various callings, including Relief Society president. She loved serving in the Scouting program with her sons.
She devoted her time and talents to being a wife, mother and homemaker, always putting her family first and loving every moment spent with them.
Gardening, camping, fishing and boating were among her favorite pasimes.
Juanita is survived by her husband, LeRoy Howard of Groveland; her sons, Ron (Karen) Howard of Gilbert, Arizona; Dave (Doreen) Howard of Blackfoot; Roy Howard of Idaho Falls; one brother, Garland Hostetter of Spring Lake, North Carolina; one sister, Gladys Stowers of Cloverdale, Viginia; 12 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Caldwell, her parents, and two sisters, Romona, Fewox and Stella Fox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the Groveland 2nd Ward Chapel. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be in the Groveland Cemetery.
