BLACKFOOT — Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney Cleve Colson said the process of extraditing a Blackfoot man should be completed in the near future.
Colson said he was in the process of obtaining a governor's warrant to extradite Fernando Lee Naranjo, 33, who is charged with felony aggravated battery and felony injury to a child with bodily injury. The incident involved his 3-month-old daughter.
Naranjo was arrested in Ogden, Utah, on Jan. 23. He is in the Weber County Jail waiting extradition.
According to a press release last month, Blackfoot Police responded to a child abuse complaint on Jan. 18. The infant sustained serious injury and was transported by Life Flight to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Colson said the child Is still alive.
"I don't follow her report day by day," he said.
Investigators with the Joint Detective Unit of the Blackfoot Police and Bingham County Sheriff's Office were assisted by Ogden Police and the U.S. Marshal in the apprehension and arrest of Naranjo.
