There were plenty of police officers and guns in Firth for about three hours on Saturday afternoon.
Law enforcement officers were responding to a stabbing in an alley in Firth. The suspect, identified on Sunday as 55-year-old Roger Arellano, had barricaded himself in a house on Wilson Street.
“I was watching it from a fire truck,” said Firth Mayor Vincent Winn Larson. “We were just doing traffic control.
“There sure were a lot of officers with a lot of guns,” he said. “They took their time; no one else was hurt.
“[The police officers] did a good job,” said Larson. “They got it resolved peacefully.
“There sure are a lot of people to protect you when needed,” said Larson. “They handled the situation in a responsible manner.”
